How to choose your domain name

First off, if you don’t have hosting yet and need a domain name sign up with LunarPages, they give you a free domain name when you sign up for $4.95/month plan. If you already have hosting you can get your domain from GoDaddy.

There are three things that you should look for from your domain name: brandability, easy to remember, and SEO benefits.

Easy to remember should be the first thing that you want, this means that your name should be short (its hard to remember three or four word domain names), not be easily misspelled, and should be a .com (otherwise you will lose a substanstial amount of your traffic to whoever owns the .com).

Brandability goes somewhat hand in hand with easy to remember. You want to be able to brand your website so the user will remember your website name. Think about the highly successful v-bux.com, you will never confuse its name with another sites because its name has high brandability meaning that they created a “v-bux” brand. Its much harder to do this when your domain name is prizetrooper, freewiizone or something that is very similar to others names. For an average user its hard to differentiate between these sites and thats not good.

SEO benefits are important especially if you are marketing via SEO ie trying to rank high for keywords in google as one of your primary sources of traffic. To do this its a good idea to have the keywords you are trying to rank for in the domain name, ie trying to rank for free psp its good to have freepspzone.com as the name this will help you substantially when trying to rank for that keyword.

Your domain name is very important part in your success and don’t overlook it, I hope these tips have helped you.

Top 10 mistakes you can make

  1. Not having enough capital to start your site–if you are going in half-assed don’t do it at all
  2. Try to give everything under the sun away for free–focus on small niche and dominate it
  3. Signing up for every affiliate network there is–you are just asking yourself for payment issues
  4. Not listenting to your affiliate network, ie running a cash incentive on an offer that doesn’t allow it–the network will find out and your payment will be withheld
  5. Not making your site unique–there enough sites out there, make yourself stand out
  6. Putting every offer you find on your site–some offers are notorious for bad tracking, having them on your site will lead to user frustration that could easily be avoided.
  7. Thinking its easy–its not, you have to work at it to be sucessful.
  8. Thinking its impossible–its not, make yourself a plan and follow it.
  9. Not doing fraud checks–lots of your users will be fraudulent, as much as it sucks(they sign up for lots of offers), you have to remove them.
  10. Paying out too late–you will lose TONS of users if you say you are paying out NET30 or more.

Is it better to work with lots of affiliate networks or just a few?

Many people try to join as many affiliate networks as possible, every time they see a new network they immediately sign up. Affiliate network market is very similar to the incentive website market: it is really crowded and it is generally filled with shit. There are tons of networks out there trying to get your traffic and most of them are crap.

They are run by people who have no idea what they are doing. As a result, almost all new networks run into payment problems which translate into payout issues for you on your site, which translates to unhappy users. The moral of this: Don’t sign up for every affiliate network under the sun, you will only run into payment problems and crappy tracking.

Most new affiliate networks are just middlemen for larger networks, meaning that they take an offer for a large affiliate network and run it through their affiliate network to you. This means that you will generally get lower payouts from smaller affiliate networks.

On the other side these networks may be the only ones that you can get accepted into. So it may be a necessary starting point. You should also not just sign up for just one or two networks, in case you run into a problem with one, its not a huge loss. Just like they say: don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Looking for good affiliate networks, just click on the affiliate network reviews page.

The Importance of a good relationship with forums

Most you should be familiar with the various freebie and getpaidto forums out there. They are by far the most powerful traffic source for your Incentive sites. It is a very highly targeted form of visitors that have their mind set on completing offers. Anything4free.com. Freeipodguide.com. Freelunchroom.com, and many more are what make the incentive market profitable. There are thousands and thousands of members in these forums.

Especially with the incredible rise in incentive sites and fraudulent incentive sites these forums have been increasingly selective on who is allowed to promote their site. I know that anything4free.com (A4F) now screens every single site before they are allowed promote their site. It is not as easy as it once was. But there is still a way to profit from forum traffic.

First, you need to start the approval process for your site at these forums. Find other forums that many people haven’t heard of and start promoting your site there. Make sure to be a frequent and helpful contributor to these forums. Maybe share some interesting posts about non-freebie or non-gpt related topics. If people see you as a valuable member of the forum they will be more likely to visit your site. After you have been approved make a post or two explaining the unique features of your site. Offer some type of promotion to your users, the more creative the better.

This is a very important step or all your efforts will be wasted: Make your site unique and interesting. Even if people sign up at your site they will not want to finish it if is just like any other site. This is much easier said than done. If you make your product (your site) quality, the traffic from these forums will be viral. People will pay for your greens or solicit referrals for your site. But if its crap, it will be one-time traffic and it will die down soon.

Many sites including zeropricetags and macrobucks started exclusively from forum traffic and now make serious bucks. If done properly forums can be your single biggest form of traffic.

How to capture a niche.

I have been talking alot about capturing a niche and how that is the way to go when you create a new freebie site. You cannot simply create a general freebie site and hope to succeed, its simply like any other business: you cannot just create a general store from scratch, you are more likely to succeed if you focus on a small segment of the market. At the very least you should do this in the beginning.

Personally, I own lots of incentive sites and not one of them is a general site, they all are focused on a relatively small niche with little competition.

What exactly is a niche?

A niche is small segment of the market. Examples of (Freebie-related) Niches: Free PS3 Games, Free Nike Sneakers, Free Rapidshare accounts. Their are hundreds of different niches that are freebie related.

Why should create a niche freebie site?

Simple. There is alot less competition. There are not very many sites that offer free rapidshare accounts so when you create your Free premium rapidshare account you can easily dominate the market. There is obviously less traffic with this site then offering free wiis but you are not competing with trainn.org or other big boys. This makes it much easier for you. You can literally create as many websites you want in all different types of niches.

I won’t give away any more powerful niches that have earned me money, its up to you! Think about things that you hate paying for but are necessary to you.

Is the Freebie market too saturated?

There are many new GPT and Freebie sites popping up daily and most of them are just utter crap. They are not well designed, all run the same script, all offer the same offers, and give the users no incentive to sign up.

Why would anyone want to sign up for the most of these sites? For most there is absolutely no reason why anyone would want to sign up for most of these sites. They have no innovation.

So is the market saturated?

Yes.

Is it too saturated to make a profit?

No.

Gone are the days where you can simply create a site and go to forums and write a post about your site and watch the dough roll in. You have to think outside the box and capture a niche.

Create your own script, create your own unique design, and add value to your site. If you do that you will get your users promoting the site for you!

If you don’t have any originality you will only make chump change, if that. Ask yourself, why would anyone join your site over CashCrate or a Trainn site?

There is still plenty of profit to be made with these sites if you use it properly.

Use Paypal’s Masspay to save you time and keep your users happy

This is a quick little tip for you to save some time and keep your users happy. Everybody uses paypal and there is a very high chance that you are using paypal to pay your users. Masspay allows you to pay your user’s with no paypal fees, if you do not do this already, there is absolutely no reason why you should not use Masspay to pay your users. You are charged a maximum of $1 for each payment you send and your users are not charged anything. This saves your users the 4% that paypal charges and it can actually save you time.

Let’s say that you need to send payments to 100 different users, it can be quite tedious to do, but Masspay makes it easy, just save your info into a .csv file and upload it to the paypal site and it will automatically transfer the money. To create the file, just open excel and put the email in one column and the amount in another column then go to save as and select save as .csv. It’s that simple and it can make your life a lot easier.

Shiftcode: Should I use it or not?

Almost every GPT Incentive site uses Shiftcode, and many including cashduck, dealbarbiepays, and cash ninjas has become wildly popular and successful. Many people want to know if you should sign up for Shiftcode or should I create my own script.

The Pricing of Shiftcode includes a one time set up fee of 119.95 and a monthly fee of 19.95. There are additional add-ons (many of them necessary for a good site: like the automatic creditor, etc.). Many people are not fond of the monthly fee but if you are making anything per month it shouldn’t be a problem to pay for it.

The features of Shiftcode are pretty comprehensive, they have most features that you want of a GPT site. The referral system, the proxy detection, and the telephone verification are all pretty good features that most other scripts do not have.

The main problem with Shiftcode is that all the sites look the same, and have the same layout. Users do not want to sign up to a site that is not unique and looks pretty much like every other GPT site around. The best thing that you can do is get a custom designer to try to make your site as unique as possible.

Another problem with Shiftcode is that many upper-tier affiliate networks, the ones that give you higher payouts and better offers, like MaxBounty, NeverblueAds, and metareward. This is because they believe the users of Shiftcode to be less knowledgeable about fraud, and reducing fraud. But, you can still get into many other affiliate networks.

In Conclusion, I suggest that you buy Shiftcode if you are looking for an easy to implement way to get a GPT Incentive site up quickly. Do not buy Shiftcode, if you are looking for a top quality solution to get a unique GPT site up and running, get a custom script designed from getafreelancer.com .
